Perry, Wiszowaty Off Ballot For House 39

Phil Perry and Jim Wiszowaty, Republican candidates for S.C. House District 39, are the latest candidate that will not be counted in Tuesday's primary.

, a Republican candidate for S.C. House District 39, is now running as a petition candidate — joining the list of candidates who are no longer certified or withdrew after the latest Supreme Court ruling.  

"It's very confusing," Perry said of the latest ruling.

He said the ruling contradicts what candidates were told about filing.

Perry's departure would leave attorney and Lexington School District 3 school board member  and Batesburg-Leesville . 

But Lexington County GOP chair Steve Isom said Saturday that might not be the case. Isom told Patch he learned Wiszowaty would be off the ballot.

Patch couldn't reach Wiszowaty for comment.

Perry said he was all "geared to go for Tuesday" but now he has to get signatures to run as an Independent in November. 

On Tuesday, the South Carolina Supreme Court ruling on Florence County Republicans led to more candidates being dropped from the ballot just days from the primary. 

At least 42 candidates have been decertified, The State reports. 

Two of which were , candidates for Lexington County Council Districts 3 and 5, respectively.
