Lexington Woman Killed on I-20

The Lexington County Coroner's Office releases the name of a woman killed in a car accident occurring around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed in a two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

The driver was Anna Elizabeth Burns, 23, of Lexington, Coroner Harry Harman said.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Burns was traveling east on I-20 in a Ford pickup truck when she came up behind a Lexus driven by Calvin Johnson, 30, of Columbia, and swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle.

Burns lost control of the vehicle and went to the right striking the Lexus on the right side.

The truck traveled up the right side of the road and down an embankment, and overturned.

Burns was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorizes.

Johnson wasn't injured in the collision. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
