Richland County Deputy, Wife Die in Saluda County Crash

The officer and his wife were riding on a motorcycle in Saluda County when they were hit by an SUV.

A Richland County Sheriff's Deputy and his wife died after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by an SUV Wednesday night in Saluda County, according to reports. 

Sgt. Derek El Dada, who was assigned to the Dutch Fork region, and his wife, Leigh, were both killed when an SUV ran into the officer's motorcycle on S.C. 391 near Hutto Island Road, according to a report from WIS. 

El Dada was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Sgt. Bob Beres with the S.C. Highway Patrol said. His wife was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV, Scotrell Praylow, 26, ran off the right side of the road, over-corrected, crossed the center line and hit the motorcycle, Beres said. 

No charges have filed. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
