I am very thankful for our health insurance, and even more thankful that we found an affordable oneRead More through "Penny Health" online. It has been 6 years that they have not increased my premiums. Having health insurance gives us a peace of mind

Though I am pretty certain that my own political views offer a stark contrast to those of Mrs. Poe,Read More I have had the privilege of meeting and talking with her on several occasions in the past and have found her to be most interesting, most entertaining, and most gracious. Furthermore, her involvement in caring concerns over the years puts flesh on her words of care and concern. She is a most deserving recipient of this award. That said, I'd like to ask the editor(s) of The Patch to place the name of the writer of each week's edition of this column at the top of the column. Though the column is, I suppose, expressive of opinions held by The Palladian View, it is not actually written by that entity. To precede the content with the name of the individual writer gives those of us who regularly read this piece a bit of perspective on that which follows and perhaps a better sense of how to respond to it should we choose to do so.

Rusty, Thank you for the kind words on behalf of Betty Poe. Though we may disagree on issues, youRead More are correct she is "interesting, most entertaining, and most gracious". As to your comment "Though the column is, I suppose, expressive of opinions held by The Palladian View, it is not actually written by that entity. ", I must respond in kind as this is inaccurate. I did write this article. Furthermore, Palladian View always credits the author of the article, whether it is LaDonna, Lauren....or me. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I am a supporter of the Lowcountry Food Bank. I would have loved to have participated in this eventRead More if I had known about it a bit earlier. This seems to have been very poorly advertised. You cannot expect to get a lot of support unless you tell people about it way in advance and then the day before as well as the day of the event. It seems to be a wasted opportunity. I would certainly have blogged about it if I had known. Don't be surprised if the participation is low.

Absolutely ditto to that comment...except I don't blog. But thanks to Patch for giving it someRead More visibility. This is the only place I saw this advertised, and we (wife and I) were the only people in our neighborhood who put a bag of food out there! I don't think people were aware. So this is a good opportunity to say kudos to Patch for the great local neighborhood news. Everything in the world isn't really Gamecocks and Tigers. Thanks.

Hopefully, the word came in enough time so that many (or at least some) of you were able to give. IfRead More that wasn't the case, and you still want to give food or donate some time, then I'd encourage you and others to locate your nearest food bank (via Google, phone book, etc), and help out. So as not to sound preachy and sanctimonious, I plan to do that myself in the coming week, visiting Lexington Interfaith Community Services and Harvest Hope Food Bank here in the Midlands.
