Irmo High School is a three-time National Blue Ribbon School that offers a variety of academic programs including college preparatory, gifted and talented and special education. The school, which was founded in 1928 and is a four year public school, also offers a variety of advanced placement and international baccalaureate courses in addition to extracurricular activities. Irmo High is located between St. Andrews and Irmo and is only minutes away from downtown Columbia, Lake Murray and Harbison, a thriving area of entertainment, shopping and restaurants. Irmo High, home of the Yellow Jackets, is known for its student achievement, both academically and in extracurricular activities. Students have won National Academic Championships; have had a band to perform at Carnegie Hall; and have won national sports titles.
