Local Restaurants Raise Money for 'No Kid Hungry'

Eat at participating restaurants in September to help raise money for Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry program.

When you eat out this month, you can help raise funds for hungry children.

A national nonprofit, Share Our Strength, is calling on restaurants and the people who eat at them to help end childhood hunger through their Dine Out for No Kid Hungry program.

By eating at participating restaurants in September, a portion of the proceeds from your purchases will be donated to No Kid Hungry.

Several restaurants with locations in Irmo are participating, including , , Buffalo Wild Wings, , , and . 

The official week for the event is Sept. 16 through 22, but restaurants are encouraged to participate for as much of the month as possible.

At Maccaroni Grill, customers who donate $2 to No Kid Hungry will get $5 off their next visit.

The restaurant will also connect a kid with a meal every time you share an image from their Facebook photo gallery and every time you tag a Tweet or Instagram photo of your experience at the restaurant with #macgrillgive. 

At Bruegger's Bagels this month, customers can purchase a $3 coupon booklet, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to No Kid Hungry. The restaurant chain will also donate $1 for every like the Bruegger's Facebook page gets in September.

Beginning September 9, Denny's will sell coupon booklets for $3, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to No Kid Hungry. The booklets contain $5 worth of coupons good through the end of the year.

Dine Out For No Kid Hungry has raised more than $4 million for the No Kid Hungry campaign — funds that are used to raise awareness about child hunger in the U.S., support school breakfast, as well as summer and after-school meal programs, and educate kids and their families on how to cook healthy meals with limited resources.
