'It's the People's Campaign'

Hundreds gathered at Jillian's Billiards Club in Columbia for one last rally for Texas Congressman Ron Paul before the South Carolina Primary.

Lisa Blevins drove a little over three hours to see what she couldn't find from the mainstream media.

Blevins, of Greensboro, NC, said she wanted to witness supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul in action - action she said has been missing in the coverage of the presidential election.

"I wanted to see the electric energy for myself because I haven’t been able to see on the news what’s really going on and where the supporters are," Blevins said. "I wanted to come down here and offer my support."

Hundreds of Paul supporters packed an area of Jillian's Billiards Club to cheer on what guests said was a "Ron Paul Revolution."

Young and old stood shoulder to shoulder cheering on the man they say will bring back freedom and liberty.

At times the crowd chanted  "Ron Paul Revolution! Give Us Back Our Constitution!" or "President Paul" as the congressman talked about the growing support his campaign is receiving.

Especially the young people.

Blevins said she wasn’t surprised by the size of crowd and was very glad to see that there were so many people there to support Paul.

"It’s interesting that it doesn’t get covered like (Mitt) Romney or other people," she said.

Blevins said Paul has won her vote because he is the candidate that could limit the federal government and give it back to the people.

"I think that the federal government has lost its way," Blevins said. "Its taken on too many burdens. I think that the way that we could change this country is to put civic duty back into our personal freedom."

"In order to do that, we have to make government something that we can control and see. When it’s far away in D.C., you can’t see it. You don’t know what’s going on. If we can bring that back to the states, that power, then we can regulate as a people and really pass laws and things that matter to us."

During Paul's rally speech, he said his campaign was unlike any other. And Blevins agrees.

"Like he said it’s a different kind of campaign," she said. "It’s coming from the people whereas their campaigns are coming from the media and corporate donors. It’s the people’s campaign."

Paul's campaign may be classified by some as the people's campaign but it can also be classified as a campaign that has garnered the support of a younger demographic.

At 18, both Shelbey Bunker and Caleb Padgett have joined the Paul camp looking for a change to be made in this country.

"I don’t like the way the Republican Party has been going," Bunker said. "I don’t like the other candidates."

"I love Ron Paul because he stands for liberty, he stands for freedom, and he stands for limited government. He wants to get our currency back on the gold standard, stop the inflation and the Federal Reserve."

Bunker, who is from Aiken, said Paul is the only one that can beat President Barack Obama because he doesn’t just pull from Republicans.

"He doesn’t have a message that only speaks to Republicans," Bunker said. "He has a message that speaks to all Americans."

"He’s all about freedom. He’s all about free choice. That’s not a party issue. It’s an American issue. It’s a ‘We the People’ issue. I believe Ron Paul is the last politician that actually stands for something."

Padgett, a student at the University of South Carolina, said he is supporting Paul because he is a moderate and is ready for a change.

“So many people are sick of Democrats, sick of Republicans," Padgett said. "He’s got such a moderate view on things and he’s a common sense politician. He seems to be down to Earth and one of the people."

"People are sick of politicians that want to make up their own rules. I like his ideas on foreign policy and his economic policy especially."

"We really need a change. We need something to go a little bit better. I think if he wins the primary, it’ll be (because of) the young people because a lot of the college kids are really supporting it."

Last year, more Americans died from dog bites and lightning strikes than terrorism. You are also generally more likely to get killed by bathtubs, vending machines, and diarrhea than by terrorism.
To put my opinion in a better perspective, I suggest you consider the public response had the government announced the "War On Diarrhea". After all, as more people died from diarrhea than from terrorism, it only makes sense that the "War On Diarrhea" should command a commensurately larger expenditure of public funds, say maybe 2 trillion a year. Then of course, given the higher percentage killed, we should launch a 50 trillion dollar "War On Cars". Wait a minute, stop laughing! I'm SERIOUS. I know you say a certain amount of death is inevitable and that it's the human condition. That's not the point. The POINT is that we can't get elected unless we DO SOMETHING. Voting for Paul will cause that SOMETHING to be Liberty, with a big side order of SERIOUS defense. Not security theater that bankrupts us and enriches the military industrial complex.

Although I agree that Ron Paul is a nice man which sets him apart from the rest of the clowns running in the Republican Party. I still believe that his beliefs of isolationism are must too extreme for this country. Obama is a passive, thoughtful man who cares deeply about Americans. If he has a congress that works for the people instead of obstructionism and the rich he will implement alot of what Ron Paul belives, but without the extremism.

Controlled main street media has blacked-out just about any and all Ron Paul day-to-day exposure nationwide. It's beyond embarrassing to say the very least, when all the while we parade Hillary Clinton around the world proposing that other nations should practice democratic behavior when we fail to do so here at home, Isolation as pertains to running our nation "without red ink" is not a faulty method, One need only view the accomplishments of China minding its own business and caring for its people to quickly comprehend the virtue of such behavior. Why in heaven's name our military is involved in places where people are killing themselves is madness! I say let them kill one another, seemingly their choice, rather than wasting the best and brightest of our young boys and girls! Is it not time to reevaluate our direction and military involvements that has the nation on the brink of bankruptcy? Ron Paul is all about chosing sanely what we say and do as a people and as a nation once held in great esteem, now becoming more and more despised globally. Young folks are tuned-in and far wiser than older folks no longer in touch with essential issues.

I hope he runs third party and blows all of the elitists out of the water. The Media are controlled by the same people who control the CFR, Trilateralists Commission, Central Banks, etc. so of course they'll hamper his chances of winning, even to lying about polls, esteem, etc. I wish we could have the Ron Paul votes done on Paper with Pencil and count our own ballots, so he'd have a fair election. These Diebold machines are made to give false numbers easily. Go Ron Paul 2012! We're standing behind you all the way!

I'm 54 years old and I see through the old scam. It just takes a little time to investigate what is really going on out there. People are like sheeple and they follow rather than lead. If a person doesn't have a mind to investigate the truth for themselves, they'll remain a blind following the blind individual. Truth is on our side, but our country has and always was non-interventionist. We should remain so, unless Congress should allow us to intervene in a just war. Killing for oil is never a just war.
Susanna January 21, 2012 at 01:18 pm
The only reason you believe his views on isolationism are too extreme is because you're listening to the pundit controlled by Murdoch, Bilderberger, CFR and you're remaining blind because of this. Look up CFR, Tri-lateralist Commission and see what George Soros, Rupert Murdoch and Rockefeller have to do with these Commissions who make our Foreign Policy, which is what you're defending. You have no idea what is really going on in the Middle East because you're listening to the pundit, rather than investigating the Truth behind the Screen. The Puppet Masters are Rockefellers, Rothschilds and Soros, Murdoch, etc. These are the people you are allowing to get in the way of truth. Ron Paul is in no way extreme. That is what they'd like you to believe. A strong defense is what we need and no militarism in the whole world. Bring them home, and don't give out foreign aid to our enemies who are vanquished more easily with no money than with build up of weapons or men.

I couldn't agree more. It's a neoMcCarthyism. It's the scapegoat they've needed since the Soviet Union fell.

I knocked on doors for Obama & made phone calls for him. Yes I thought he was a nice guy too. Yes I bought his excuse about Congress for a long time. I bought all that untill he signed NDAA new years eve.
Yes he claimed that he didn't 'want' to sign it but he signed it on his own free will. I'm sorry, he's an adult & he must be accountable to his actions & what they mean. I don't believe any of his excuses anymore. I never vote republican, in fact the term disgusts me, however, if Ron Paul wins the primary he will get my vote. I may not agree with all his points but at least I know where he stands. He IS against the NDAA and for ending the war. Most importantly he knows that our country is rapidly becoming a police state. This is the number one issue in the country today
inspoken January 21, 2012 at 02:15 pm
The fact that the media does not like Ron Paul is almost a plus in my book.
By the way, there are also several liberals for Ron Paul. I knocked on doors for Obama & made phone calls for him I bought all his excuses for a long time. He IS against the NDAA and for ending the war. Most importantly he knows that our country is rapidly becoming a police state. There are other points of his I may not agree with but at least I know where he stands.

It's unfortunate, but the media has turned this primary into a referendum o giving aid to Israel and bombing Iran. So let me ask, who do you think really runs America?
It's called an Oligarchy and you are not invited to participate. Just give the establishment your money and shut up.
Tonto January 21, 2012 at 04:09 pm
Its called a tax prison and you are forced to participate by democrat thieves stealing your money.

I cannot believe how easily the people in this country of ours can be fooled so easily by the 3 Stooges, RobMe, GettingRich and Sintowardem. Ron Paul, IS Our ONLY HOPE!!

Ron Paul is the only one who stands for anything. He leaves the campaign trail to vote against the debt ceiling because he cares more about principle than a few damn votes. I'm thankful for his honesty and consistency, agree with him or not. He's got my vote even though I disagree with a few of his stances. At least I know he won't go back on his word.

We should all be using paper ballots. No more Diebold. You want to know how the elite keep winning in these elections? They're all skewed to make them win. Here in Oregon, due to our liberal voting laws, 60,000 unaccountable votes were found in our last major election. That means in order to win in Oregon, you'd have to outvote the opposition by 70,000 votes or lose, even if you won.
Susanna January 26, 2012 at 09:31 pm
Is there any way you can get this information out to the General Public through a bigger medium? This is outrageous! Gingrich is a scam artist through and through. Obviously, as stated in this investigation, Gingrich's association with his wife, Marian, was one of convenience and money making ventures. Another reason to distrust the man. Their relationship was for money ventures only. It states so in the investigation. He's so rotten, it's beyond belief he could show his face up for winning a Presidential election.

Susanna, they used handwritten paper ballots in Iowa and look what kind of a mess it created. Iowa results were more corrupted than the SC results.
Susanna January 26, 2012 at 10:09 pm
I'll do my best to help with this Jeff Phelps. I've already sent to several people and will try to do more. The mainstream media are all controlled by CFR, so it will be hard. Have you given this to Prisonplanet.com? Alex Jones would want this information, but he already suspected fraud. He said that it would be a good idea for all Ron Paul supporters to stay in precincts until the votes are tallied at each ;precinct, and take a photograph of the ending results, then send them to their main location to see if votes counted agree with votes reported. This is HUGE, but I knew he couldn't have been FIRST, then suddenly gone to THIRD. I knew it in my heart of hearts, and I know they're doing this in all the states.
Susanna January 27, 2012 at 01:34 am
Brad...they used Diebold machines not paper ballots. Look at Jeff Phelps link above my remark. South Carolina results were also skewed. No one heard a thing about the beginning tallies or votes, until 8:00 PM?????? Never have I seen information so corrupted and so secretive. South Carolina has to have been the worst. Makes one wonder if voting really counts anymore? I'll still vote, but this has to stop...NOW!
Brad Parsons January 27, 2012 at 03:56 am
Susanna, Iowa used handwritten paper ballots. I don't know, maybe SC used Diebold machines. Both of 'em had irregular results.

I don't see anything wrong with learning CPR, or lifesaving (swimming), or courses on nutrition andRead More child-raising. Lots of courses are good things. What I don't think is a good thing, is having state legislators passing bills on this level of detail. State legislatures get very political, and then want to legislate things like creationism (intelligent design) or ban the science behind evolution. Political hacks should not be determining the school curriculum, they are not actually the most knowledgeable people with respect to academics. They are politicians; that does not make them experts on anything in particular except winning elections.

I don't think Google does much in the way of religious doodles -- Passover, Ramadan, etc. so why theRead More flack? The Chavez holiday coincided with Easter, but I suspect that those who are complaining would have found another reason to criticize Google if the Chavez birthday had fallen on a day other than Easter and the company had run the doodle.

I am completely familiar with state owned aircraft and how they are to be used. This was aRead More completely legitimate use of the state aircraft, there is simply no real argument against its use. Only those who support the socialized medicine represented by Obamacare or a wide variety of curmudgeons think that this government witness should have been privately funded.
Tom Utley March 26, 2013 at 03:02 pm
Kat, this is just pathetic. You disagree with nullification (and therefore support the PPACA) butRead More can't rationally debate the merits, so you latch on to this ridiculous argument. The legislature is in the business of making laws. There are expenses in that business. In my perfect world, there wouldn't be a legislature, but in this world there is and they need to have expert input into their process or else they will just be flying blind, and we've seen how badly that turns out.
