Lexington County Deputies, Irmo Firefighters Donate More Than $700 to Jeffrey Chavis House

Deputies and firefighters held a fundraiser for the Jeffrey Chavis House, a guest house where family members of patients at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center can stay.

Lexington County Sheriff's deputies and Irmo firefighters put on their aprons and served meals earlier this month to raise money to help the families of burn victims.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the Irmo Fire District, in cooperation with the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation, donated $708 to the Jeffrey Chavis House by serving meals on Aug. 1 to customers at Romano's Macaroni Grill on Harbison Boulevard.

Deputies and firefighters donated all tips and donations they received to support the 40-bed guest house that serves relatives of patients at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital of Augusta in Augusta, Ga.

The house is named in memory of Jeffrey Chavis, a Lexington County Fire Service firefighter who died as a result of burns that he suffered while fighting a residential fire.
