SIGNS THAT THE APOCALYPSE IS NEAR

Mitch McConnell, in his victory speech after winning the Kentucky Republican senatorial primary, criticized his Democratic opponent in the upcoming general election---Alison Lundergan Grimes---by saying that "She supports the man (referencing President Obama) who says that coal will make you sick."

Senator McConnell said this just a short time after the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, which operates under the auspices of the Centers for Disease Control, had issued a report indicating that black lung disease---the bane of the mining community---had played a role in over 10,000 deaths in a recent 10-year period.

I know of no one in the mining community who doesn't know that "coal will make you sick."  Indeed, apparently Senator McConnell is the only one yet to get the word. Though, in his, uh, defense, he spends little or no time in Kentucky's mining communities. They don't like him there. And it's not hard to understand why.
