St. Francis Youth Hosting Yard Sale June 16

The youth at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Chapin are hosting their annual Yard Sale this Saturday, June 16, from 7 am - 1 pm.

The youth at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Chapin are hosting their annual Yard Sale this Saturday, June 16, from 7 am until 1 pm in the parish hall.

Area residents and yard sale enthusiasts are welcome to rummage through the various goodies collected from church members and local community in support of a great cause.

According to Dianne Spearman, proceeds from the sale support youth programs and mission work. St. Francis youth regularly support the children at Boys Farm and York Place as well as participate in community outreach through an annual summer camp and regular Adopt-a-Road clean-ups in the Chapin area.

St. Francis of Assisi is located at 735 Old Lexington Highway in Chapin.

What I don't think is a good thing, is having state legislators passing bills on this level of detail. State legislatures get very political, and then want to legislate things like creationism (intelligent design) or ban the science behind evolution. Political hacks should not be determining the school curriculum, they are not actually the most knowledgeable people with respect to academics. They are politicians; that does not make them experts on anything in particular except winning elections.

The Chavez holiday coincided with Easter, but I suspect that those who are complaining would have found another reason to criticize Google if the Chavez birthday had fallen on a day other than Easter and the company had run the doodle.

The legislature is in the business of making laws. There are expenses in that business. In my perfect world, there wouldn't be a legislature, but in this world there is and they need to have expert input into their process or else they will just be flying blind, and we've seen how badly that turns out.
