More About H. E. Corley Elementary School
Located in the heart of Irmo, H.E. Corley Elementary School is a neighborhood school serving the New Friarsgate and Waterford subdivisions. H.E. Corley was founded in 1990 and originally housed kindergarten through sixth grade, until all of the district 5 of Lexington and Richland counties' sixth-grade students moved to CrossRoads Middle School in 1992. Named in honor of former superintendent Dr. H.E. "Hap" Corley — who's educational career spanned 41 years with 29 years as head of the district — the school offers a variety of academic courses including gifted and talented, performing arts and foreign languages.
