What Should Go Here? McDonald's
This McDonald's location closed after a new building was built on the same street.
This empty space sets on Harbison Boulevard next to Dennys.
The former location for McDonald's relocated just feet away to a new location beside Chick-fil-A.
Harbison Boulevard is a hub for shopping in the Irmo-Seven Oaks area.
What do you think should go here? Another fast food chain? A retail store?
Tell us in the comments section below.
About this column: Every week or so, we'll post a picture of a vacant store or lot in the Irmo-Seven Oaks area. You can tell us what you think should replace the empty space. Know of an empty building we should highlight? Emailshireese.bell@patch.com.

No more fast food, SC needs to downsize the citizens and the fast food restaurants. How about Earth Fare or something healthy. No more fast food.

Whole foods! Does Irmo have a health food grocery? I visited one in Ft. Meyers and loved it. Wish we had one here.

Perhaps the decision should be left to some businessperson who is willing to put up the capital necessary to start a business. It would seem appropriate for the person to determine that a need exists for a product or a service that the businessman thinks would generate a profit on his investment and that person is willing to take the risk associated with possible failure.
But then I am a capitalist at heart and for that reason I chafe at the idea of people reading a paper and coming to some conclusion about what 'business' they would like to see.

I agree with Tony H., enough fast food places, an EarthFare, Whole Foods, or something similar. Battery Plus is like hidden in the location they moved to, maybe they can move into that building to be better seen. Subway can also consider moving into that building, they are located behind a gas station and the bad parking causes people to pass them up. Last one, I would like to see Tropical Smoothie come back to the area, and this will be the perfect location!!

I agree that it would be good to have an Earth Fare or Whole Foods in this area. Tropical Smoothie would be good, too. We definitely need more healthy options. I would also love to see a place like Stogo in New York. They serve the best organic dairy-free ice cream I have ever tasted. Maybe some businessperson will see these posts and get the idea to open one of those mentioned.
