Ladson Woman Arrested for DUI, Driving Wrong Way on I-26
S.C. Highway Patrol safely stops vehicle, no injuries
A Ladson woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 26 was arrested Wednesday and charged with driving under the influence, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Vanessa H. Clark of Ladson was traveling east in the westbound lane on I-26 near St. Andrews about 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers say Clark ran another vehicle off the road at the 102-mile marker and continued to drive, failing to stop for police that eventually found her driving near the 105-mile marker on 1-26.
S.C. Highway Patrol received multiple calls about the vehicle traveling down the wrong side of the interstate, according to a release.
Officers say after failing to stop, State Trooper Salvatore Cirencione used his vehicle to stop Clark by pushing the vehicle into the center median wall on I-26 near mile marker 106.
Cirencione was able to stop the vehicle with no injuries reported.
