District 5 CFO Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Karl Fulmer, Lexington-Richland 5's CFO, among three state education leaders to receive SCASA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Karl Fulmer, Lexington-Richland 5's chief financial services officer, is one of three school leaders in the state to be named a 2012 William B. Harley Lifetime Achievement Award recipient by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA), the district recently announced.
Fulmer has served in public education for more than 45 years in various roles including a math teacher and school principal.
Fulmer was honored last week at the SCASA Innovative Ideas Institute. Recipients received a cash prize, a commemorative plaque, and a ring.
Each year, SCASA selects three education leaders as exemplars of education leadership based on four criteria.
The criteria includes evidence of outstanding leadership, record of service as a SCASA member, community service and service to the profession above normal job responsibilities.
Other recipients were Donna Gutshall, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for Spartanburg School District Six; and Valerie Truesdale, superintendent of Beaufort County Schools.
