Deputies Arrest Man for Stealing Boat Trailers
A 42-year-old man was arrested Sunday for stealing boat trailers and selling them for cash.
Richland County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man they say stole boat trailers and sold them for cash.
Matthew Ray Young, 42, was charged with two counts of grand larceny and driving under suspension.
Young is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
On Sunday, deputies responded to a call at 1108 Marina Road, Irmo, according to the sheriff's department.
Sheriff Leon Lott said a victim had followed Young to Marina Road because Young had stolen his boat trailer.
Once on the scene, deputies determined that Young was driving under a suspended license and was arrested.
Lott said Young admitted to stealing trailers and selling them for cash.
Between July 21 and Aug. 4, Young allegedly entered a property at 201 Racket Road, Chapin, and stole a boat trailer from a storage area.
Investigators have determined that there may be other victims.
Lott is asking for assistance in identifying anyone who may have been victimized by Young.
Anyone who purchased a trailer from Young should check the serial number to make sure its not stolen property.
